The People’s GM- Evaluating the Denis Gresbeshkov trade

I made a comment on the site this morning that as the People's GM, I was none too happy with the Oilers trade of Grebeshkov to the Nashville Predators for a 2nd round pick in next year's draft.

The People's GM: Evaluating the Oilers Defensive Defensemen

In this installment of the People's GM, I am going to evaluate our defensive defensemen.  Perhaps more accurately stated, I will evaluate those D-men that do not have much of an offensive game.

Game 17 - Edmonton Oilers vs. Colorado Avalanche - November 8, 2009 - Pepsi Center [6pm Snet]

The Edmonton Oilers(7-8-1) will face the Colorado Avalanche (12-3-2) at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.  The Oilers are trying to snap a three game losing streak against the Western Conference leader.  Of note, the Oilers will not only be playing without Souray or Horcoff, but reports indicate that Ales Hemsky did not make the trip either due to a shoulder injury.  Ladislav Smid himself may not play due to illness and will be a game time decisions.  Is it likely that Oilers who have lost 6 of their past 7 games can beat the upstart Colorado Avalanche without Souray, Horcoff, Hemsky, Jacques, Stone, and possibly Smid?  Unfortunately, I wouldn't bet on it.

top 10 Oilers list

I have another great post from Jonathan Joyce who's becomming quite a prolific and entertaining guest writer for the Low On Oil blog.  Jonathan also writes for his own blog, The Sports Juice, so please visit his site!  Jonathan's an Oilers fan who currently resides in enemy territory--Calgary!  The irony that this blog is titled, Low On Oil, and Jonathan himself works in the Oil & Gas industry has not been lost on me. It's especially nice to reminisce over past Oilers' seasons during a 1-6 skid.  -Jay

Jordan Eberle - The Light at the End of the Tunnel

Let's acknowledge that it's been a difficult time to be an Oilers fan or worse yet in my case, an Oilers blogger.  The Oilers are coming off a stretch of a single win in the past seven games.  Worse still, there's been little signs of life from having watched the games.  Even though I myself am always an optimist and loyal to the Oilers, already I find myself paying closer attention to the talent in this year's draft.

NHL Power Rankings Bloguin Poll

NHL Power Rankings - November edition - from Bloguin

Hi everyone,

I've just received the results ot the NHL Power Rankings for November from the latest Bloguin Poll.  If you look below, you will see that the Edmonton Oilers are currently ranked at 18th in the league from this recent Bloguin Poll.  However, the list of injured Edmonton Oilers is long and continues to grow at an alarming rate.  Shawn Horcoff spoke about his shoulder injury during the PPV game with the New York Rangers.  He suggested that it's nothing structural and that he has to wait for the pain to subside.  Speaking of pain, it's been pretty painful watch the Oilers lose six out of their past seven games.
